Today I’m feeling super proud. I went for my regular morning run and I realized that my time on the road is getting better. I am making progress, slow and steady.
This morning was my first run of the week and I was able to run 2.8 miles in 34:36 minutes; which gives me an average pace of 12:21/mil. For seasoned runners reading, this is nothing. For me who is fairly new at running, it is everything. I’ve struggled so long with my runs. It seemed like I could never go below 14-13:30 mn per mile. My last run before today was at 13:29 mn/mi. So I think one can understand my joy to drop about 1 mn. As I’ve learned and been telling myself, I just need to keep pushing myself and the day will come where I will be at 10mn/mile. Then I’ll know that I’m ready to run marathons. The sky’s the limit and I’m just excited about every inch of progress I make.
To me it’s about “one step at a time, one mile at a time” until I reach the finish line.
