I’m so excited, I cannot hide it. This weekend I’m in Georgia for a well deserved getaway, and one of the things that’s on the agenda is to go hiking in the mountain, Stone Mountain to be exact. I’ve been to Georgia before, but my experience was totally different. At that time, I was more into the shopping and the partying. I’m not saying I won’t be doing any of these, but I’m a totally different person than I was before. The thought of challenging myself in going up the mountain and admiring the wonders of this beautiful state is super exciting to me (who would have thought???)
Anyway, I am now about to get ready for this adventure. I am as nervous as I am excited. I’ve always wanted to go hiking, and now is my chance. I hope I can keep warm enough because of course it is Georgia and it’s cold. Cold and I don’t mesh well, if anyone knows me…
Fast forward a few hours later… This experience was everything I could ask for. It wasn’t too cold, so I didn’t need to bring extra layers. The climb was not as challenging as I thought it would be (I think running all these miles these past few months has helped me build up some endurance, more than I thought I had). I can’t say the same of Mimi (my bff with whom I took the trip). Going down the mountain was the challenging part for me because I’m afraid of heights, so I was afraid I would fall off the edges, or something (weird, I know). Anyway, we took some pretty cool pictures, and created lots of wonderful memories. That’s what life should be about.
I am loving the person I’m becoming. I now enjoy physical activities and look forward to them. 2 years ago, I probably would say “hell no” to climbing a mountain, now I’m first in line and encouraging others to push further.
Overall the experience was great, I wish the mountain was a tad bit higher though. Oh well. 🙂
In the meantime, enjoy a few more pictures of my wonderful experience in the Stone Mountain today.
